CityMusts Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

CityMusts shows travelers what to see, do and eat in each city. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: your exact location never leaves your device, there are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Only if you allow it, when the app first opens, does it send Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, the city you're viewing, or outside a city the area rounded to about 5 km, the places you open, the questions you ask about them and the options you pick for their scripts.

Who we are

CityMusts is made by Luis Montoya, an independent developer. You can reach us at luismontoya3141@gmail.com.

Your location

The app asks for permission to use your location while you're using it, to show where you are on the map and how far each spot is from you. Your exact location is used only on your device. It's never sent to our server and never saved. The map works without it, too.

Popular spots, place details, questions and scripts

Four features use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, through our server. When the app first opens, before it sends anything, it asks whether it may use AI from Anthropic, and says what goes there. If you tap Not Now, the app sends nothing to the AI, and the map, search and directions still work. You can change your answer anytime with the switch in About CityMusts, or with Turn On AI… where a feature needs it. Once you allow it, the app sends:

Our server passes these to Claude, which may search the web to answer. Anthropic handles these requests under its commercial terms, which don't allow it to train its models on them. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

Our server keeps Claude's lists for a city or an area for good, until we improve how they're written, and a place's details for 30 days, in its database and its host's cache, so the next person who views the same city or area or opens the same place gets the same answer. None of this records who asked. Your questions, Claude's answers to them and the scripts it writes aren't stored or cached.

To limit costs, our server counts how many questions and scripts each copy of the app asks for per day, by a random key the app creates that isn't linked to you, and deletes earlier days' counts.

If you turn off Use AI from Anthropic in About CityMusts, the app stops sending these requests. Nothing you type is sent unless you ask a question.

Search and the map

The map, place search and place details come from Apple Maps. What you type in search, the places you open, and the center of the map, to name the city it's in, go to Apple to answer your request, under Apple's privacy policy.

Done places and scripts

The places you mark done or save scripts for (their name, address, position, the city and the list they're on, when they were first stored, and when you marked them done), and those scripts, are stored only on your device. A place is kept only while it's done or has scripts: marking it not done, or deleting its last script, deletes it, and deleting the app deletes everything.

Our server

Our server runs on Vercel. Like any website, it receives your device's IP address with each request, and Vercel keeps it briefly in its logs to run and protect the service. We don't use IP addresses to identify you, and we don't combine them with anything else. This website, citymusts.app, runs on the same server: it sets no cookies, has no analytics, and loads nothing from other companies.

What we don't do

CityMusts has no accounts, ads or analytics. It doesn't track you across apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your information. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports with us, under Apple's terms.

Children

CityMusts isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

You can tap Not Now when the app asks to use AI, or turn it off later in About CityMusts, choose not to ask questions, turn off location access in your iPhone's Settings, mark places not done, delete scripts, or delete the app. We don't keep personal information linked to you, so there's nothing on our side to access or delete. For any question or request, including under data protection laws such as the GDPR, write to luismontoya3141@gmail.com.

Changes

If the app changes how it handles information, we'll update this page and its date before the change reaches you.
